Bratislava, Slovakia

January 5, 2016

The capital of Slovakia which straddles the Danube river. The population of the city is 400,000 people. After the battle of Mohacs when the Ottomans defeats the Hungarians, Brataslava became the coronation place for Hungarian monarchs. The most prominent church spire in the city has a crown on the top of the spire as a result of this. The concrete buildings built during the communist period are visible on the western side of the Danube. It looks almost identical to the  structures we saw outside St. Petersburg. The old city hall was a warm museum, which was glorious place to rest in the 17 degree fahrenheit winter. We had two meals there which included bacon and were delicious. The architecture throughout is beautiful Baroque style. The Bratislava Hrad Castle up on the peak had a beautiful view of the city and the bridge crossing the Danube.
