November 2024

Another ball! This one Damon got a special invitation since he is the director of Branch Clinics which covers the dental care for Camp Blaz.  The Marines really put on an awesome show.  Our new neighbor was at this ball too.  She is across the street and is the NBG XO's wife, so they would get those kind of invitations too.  It's always fun to have a friend there.  The Marines had flasks as the take home gifts.  We had one day off for Tropical Storm Man-yi.  Thankfully, it took a south turn right before hitting Guam so we only got some rain and stronger winds than usual. November was the Sputnik assignment to get the food of the month's faculty learning.  I love how any faculty learning at Rios has an amazing spread.  I always make sure to bring a tupperware to have leftovers for lunch too. Thanksgiving was low-key at home.  We tried doing a spatchcock method of cooking the turkey which turned out yummy. One of Damon's techs came over who is from Nigeria so this was her second Thanksgiving ever.  Her first was during boot camp so not the most warm and friendly of environments.  Hopefully, she enjoyed her meal.  I made sure to have the fine dining option of can-shaped cranberry sauce.  Our neighbor Phillip Henry was over playing in the morning, so he ended up having a plate with us too.  We have really connected with their whole family which is such a blessing.  Owen and Milton also started rehearsals for the Fleece Force nativity story play which will be performed the Saturday before Christmas.  This is also put together by our amazing neighbor Brittany, so pretty much everything cool we are doing involves their family. We found out that our other neighbor Chuck and her family are moving to Japan in December.  We are happy for them to have a new adventure, but is is so tough to say "see you later" to friends.  Milton and Chuck have been besties since pre-k. In the scheme of kiddom, that's almost half their life. Damon continues to love diving and is finally taking along the camera to get some fish pictures.  We had parent-teacher conferences for Owen and Milton.  Owen's teacher this year is so welcoming to Owen's owen-ness which is so amazing for him to feel welcomed and to thrive.  Milton's teacher is also amazing that she will give him the harder assignments when she sees that he is performing at a higher level. Damon and I are so proud of our little boys!
