March 2017
March brought us the final countdown for Owen's biggest change in his childhood of his new little brother. The biggest change for him is that mid month his sleeping patterns were getting screwy so we decided to drop his afternoon nap. I definitely mourned the loss of several quiet hours in the afternoon. Thankfully this was about the same time he bumped up to going to morning daycare five days per week. He loves his morning daycare and his teachers. He will always ask "Where is mama?" or "Where is dadada?" or "Where is the bus?" or "Where is fafa?" (referring to his teacher Ms. Ouaefa) and lastly "Where is Gaka?" (Grandpa). His acceptable answers are work, school, or home. His vocabulary still grows which is also resulting in much less hitting, as we predicted. This month he also begins the testing for whether or not he will continue his (free) speech and occupational therapy. His love for trucks and tractors and bulldozers is still strong and he loves to go outside. Milton was born on March 22. Owen is adjusting well to having another being in the house and even does well saying his name. I don't think he quite gets the concept of being an older brother because Milton is pretty much sleeping or nursing all the time. Owen had a concert at his school where each class did a song and dance. Owen didn't run off the stage, but didn't seem all that keen to be up there. They made cute shirts with puff paint for all of the kids to wear. We also went to the Amazonia exhibit at the Zoo which was a nice warm destination in the winter.
