Pacific Islands Club (PIC) Waterpark 2021

The day after Thanksgiving we used one of our PHR vouchers to go to the PIC hotel's water park. It was a very impressive water park. There were two very fast water slides, kayaking, a splash pad, and a huge pool with floaties for all the kids. There were a couple total downpours, but not cold at all so we just kept swimming. Owen did a loop of the kayaking on his own as well. Owen's best friend from school was even there too so the boys had some kids to play with. Of course, Owen made a new friend that he ran around with for the majority of the day. Definitely a pool we will go back to again.

Partial Lunar Eclipse

This was the longest partial lunar eclipse since February 18, 1440, and the longest until February 8, 2669. There will be a complete lunar eclipse in November 2022. The eclipse was at its peak around 7 pm so we have a nice night sky to see it clearly.  We went to a restaurant on base down by the pier around the corner from our house.  The kids were not all that impressed.  Owen and Milton got to see the solar eclipse when we were in New York City.  Owen didn't have his glasses and Milton was a little baby so not memorable for them.

Gun Beach

Gun Beach has a cannon and bunker on the far side that Milton found rather intriguing.  There is a hike that goes between Gun beach and Tanguisson beach but one of the bridges that connects the trail is out.  The sand at this beach was very round so it was more difficult to walk on than other beaches we have visited.  The kids were happy to dig in anything. The USS Carl Vinson was in port so the beach was rather crowded with sailors.  This is their first true port call for a very long time so it was really nice to see them getting off the ship.

Tarzan Falls

There are two different spots on different sides of a mountain with similar names and a trail that starts in the same place.  We were headed for Tarzan Falls but managed to get off track and headed towards Tarzan Pools.  Thankfully we came upon some locals who guided us back onto the correct trail.  The trails were very overrun off-road jeep trails that were quite the maze.  We did get to see some pretty cool overlooks to the ocean.  Once on track, it was a mile and a half hike down into the ravine.  There were some muddy spots, but to be expected going down into a river bed.  Milton does really great hiking.
