The Surf Side Beach, aka Black Sand Beach, is right next to the Valley of the Lotte river. We have driven by the beach a ton of times, but we finally stopped this time. The same is so squishy it feels like walking on a soft gingerbread cookie. The boys loved playing with all the washed-up coconuts and building forts. The whole bay is sandy so surfing and windsurfing are very popular there.
