The Coeur d'Alene Triathlon occurred 25Jun23. I was very nervous about it and did not really fully realize this until I arrived in Coeur d'Alene. I trained for it by swimming each weekday morning (1.2 miles at Charles King Pool at 0500). I biked to and from work (10 miles each way) and ran at lunch for 5 miles/32 minutes on the treadmill. I used the flamer bike I bought in North Caroline, which was stored in Wyoming. I was nervous to have a bike I was not used to. I was nervous about using a wetsuit I was not used to. Fundamentally, I was afraid to fail again after my Blue Ridge 70.2 did not work out when my bike crank broke. Allison came with me and having her was a huge benefit. Going two days early (sign-in was Friday and the race was Sunday) was expensive but actually good as I could practice swimming. The swim scared me the most and having a test run was really important. The race day was very nice weather. The race went well. No bike problems this time. I was tired and sore by the run but I was not going for a time record, just a finish and I was able to "jog" without stopping. All in all a big accomplishment for me after not finishing Blue Ridge 70.2. Last year I failed to select for Captain and failed the Blue Ridge 70.2. This year I got Captain and finished a 140.6 Ironman. Perseverance goes a long way in life.

June 2023 - Wyoming
We all flew out to Wyoming together which was a much easier journey than solo with the boys. They are fantastic travellers and did really great with those long flights. The weekend after arriving we went to Greys River for the weekend which is always fun. We got a 4-wheeler so we could have our own to ride on. Milton quickly adopted it as his own and we could barely keep him off the thing. We also went to Bear Lake that is also always fun. The water wasn't as high as I was thinking with all the snowfall during the winter. Milton did his set of swim lessons. Owen and Kaylee went the week after. There was a mudslide in Swift Creek that turned all the water chocolate brown. They took some huge equipment up to fix the trail and get the water back in the right channel.
