We are beginning to get back into the swing of the Saturday day outings and this month went to one of Damon's favorite; a Civil War reenactment. Owen liked seeing all of the "boom" cannons. By far the highlight of the month was Rod visiting for a conference in DC. We celebrated Rory's 2nd birthday on October 1. It was a new playground out in Potomac with very fun slides. We love being close to Gwapa and Gwapma. Owen knows the route and can mostly walk (well, run) over to their house. We made an attempt to watch General Conference, but only got as far as the parking lot with Owen wanting to play in the leaf piles.
Owen is doing very well at school and we have developed a play group with many of the other 12:30 pickup kids at the other Ayrlawn playgrounds. A couple days Otto and Rory joined us and had a ton of with grandma bringing even more construction vehicles. Owen's favorite playground is the "excavator playground" which is the one that he plays at during school. He loves the big yellow excavator and the corresponding dump truck which we will borrow to go over to the "blue playground" with the other kids. Owen loves to say hi to his "baby" and when he says Milton's name it sounds more like "Mitten". Owen is signed up for gymnastics for 3 days per week and loves it. So do I with him tired by the end of the day! Jumping around on all the big mats helps him get out his climbing desires. Potty training is making progress, but still not near finished. He is working in decoding the front door, so I have had to put a child lock thing on the doorknob. I have also installed a spare key because if the front door is closed it will lock from the outside. Owen has locked me out a couple times already.
Milton is becoming more mobile and expressive. He does well with hanging out at the playground in the stroller during the after school playground time. He loves the swing there. And with there being our group of moms, I know that Owen is kept from making a total escape. Two of the kids have little brothers, so Milton even has a few of his own buddies to stare at. His rolling is coming along enough that if I put him down in the middle of the living room floor and not long after he has rolled all the day into the dining room. He is getting pretty good at sitting up too and loves being able to watch Owen sprinting all around.
