Here are the controversial gabions, that I will freely admit turned out looking pretty good. They will be covered on the top with more gravel for the driveway and then grass planted around otherwise. Eventually more gravel will be placed in with the utility boxes so they don't look to stick out as much.
The gabions get us the additional two feet of space closer to our lot so we aren't on the neighboring flag lot's driveway access. It is considered a shared access, but we felt it was better to be safe and keep it all on our property.
Since we don't have our own water turned on, Damon carries buckets of water from the irrigation ditch/stream at the back of our lot. This is the very same ditch that his phone went for a swim last summer never to be seen again.
Here are all our trees at the back of the lot by the community path. The trees do best at the back of our lot because it is closer to the water.
Damon dug a trench to put in a pipe that will go under the driveway pavement so that we can run irrigation lines or other wires. Then he put gravel on top to have it all ready for the concrete pour.
