February 2025
Owen and Milton are diving up a storm. Owen likes the time between dives because he gets to talk to all the other divers. We finally got around to making our sand-man for our Christmas festivities. That was at the Dadi beach on base which was closed most of the first few years we were here because they were treating for little fire ants (that's their actual name...super clever). Milton is totally rocking school with being in the "top 5" of his class. He did not get into the advanced placement program, but his teacher will put him in the ability-based grouping so he can still get to try out the harder topics. One of those top 5 kids is in our ward so they get to hang out a lot. Damon came to my school for Career Day and presented to my students about Navy Dentistry. Damon and the Apra Harbor Dental clinic also went on Seahawk News with the McCool kids of dentists and did an awesome PSA about tooth brushing. With more time it would have been so cool to take up the science club or my Sputniks, but something has to give to keep everything running. We had a spirit week to dress up as the 90s/2000s so I was able to break out my hair clips that I still had from high school. I was sporting a double polo which ended up being rather hot. It is fun to get to do these spirit days with my co-worker Clarice who is not only my classroom next-door neighbor, but was my mentor all last year. We also had another earthquake! This one was after school was out and I was in my classroom. It is so wild to have everything shaking and see the lights sway. I wanted to take some pictures of our chapel because it is a really neat layout from what I've ever seen. There are no hallways with everything being open. My favorite part is the huge windows in the chapel that when looking away from the pulpit we can see the ocean and Apra Harbor. Here are two of Owen's Seahawk News segments. He is usually around the 5 minute mark of the total video. Here are the links for the segments he did:
