November 2022

I am teaching and running my science classes completely now.  I have gotten a few of my formal observations done too which is nerve-wracking.  I am really enjoying working with all the kids and getting to know them better.  I am somewhat surprising myself that I have learned all of their names.  A couple I mix up because they both wear a black mask and have the same haircut and hardly ever speak during class.  The boys are doing great.  Damon is doing a fantastic job keeping them occupied so that I can do my school work in the evenings and weekends when I am not actually at school on Saturday.  Damon did a run with some other people from the clinic from Andersen Air Force Base back down to Navy so going from pretty much one of the island to the other.  Owen drew a picture of Damon in his blue scrubs holding a dental drill on the driveway. Owen loves getting to wear Damon's white coat.We bought our official Guam art.  It is a painting from a local artist who happens to be the husband to one of the admin staff at the dental clinic.  The boys have continued to love playing chess.  They get into rather heated arguments when playing against each other, but do pretty well actually following the rules of the game. All of the kindergarteners put on a play for the parents which was so wonderful to get to have since the past two years this type of concert was canceled.  Milton did a great job singing.  They were asked to wear yellow, orange, brown or red so he sported around in his WY shirt very proudly.  We finally visited the Chamorro village on Wednesday night that has fun shops and food carts.  It is somewhat entertaining that they have all these concrete stalls for people to go under but they are only accessible by a narrow ramp or stairs so totally not feasible for a vendor to use if they have to unload everything without issues.  It was good for walking around at a higher vantage point. We invited the other oral surgeon and his wife for Thanksgiving.  Milton's tradition of being grumpy at Thanksgiving continues.  Lastly, Milton had to say goodbye to his best buddy from church since they got new orders back stateside.
