Marbella, Spain

May 17, 2014

This town is a key player in the Costa del Sol along the Mediterranean Ocean.  It is most known for being the expensive fancy-pants town that fancy-pants people go to.  The allure of being around expensive stuff doesn't attract me as much as others.  I thought the beaches were not as good as in Rota, and you don't have to pay 7 euros for an umbrella in Rota.  The old part of the city was much more interesting with the very narrow streets and a cool church.  I really liked the Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Tree Plaza) at the center of the old city. The town feels like a beach town with the tourism as the key industry.  It was a fun day, just not much really to say about it.  This city felt very big and modern with lots of tower apartments.  Apparently, nearby Puerto Banus is where the best yacht-staring is best but we didn't go over to that part.  If we make it back over to Marbella, we will go to Puerto Banus.
