The first week of June the boys were supposed to still be in school. Typhoon recovery is in full swing with more people getting back power and water each day. The rate of progress is slow though with frequent blackouts or power surges. Such a mess. We are leaving at a good time. The boys got a day where they could go over to school and say goodbye to their teachers and pick up supplies. Milton's class did their end-of-year concert for the parents in the room during the pickup window. It was toasty in the room as the AC was not working, but felt like just another day of teaching for me at Jose Rios. I also had to do my final checkout day at Jose Rios to turn in my room keys and otherwise check in with various people to make sure that my stuff was all in order to close out the year. All of the smartboards were wheeled into the library. I asked if I could get one next year, but unlikely. Why an elective home economics class has a smartboard and not the core science or social studies classrooms is a mystery. Seniority and who you know has a major factor in what supplies are acquired. The boys had to come with me which they were not too thrilled about. Several of the teachers also had their kids so it wasn't a big issue. The boys just got bored. On the day of my checkout they were supposed to still be in school or could have been in SAC but both were closed. Milton got to finally shoot off his rocket. We got three launches and then the 4th was with a stronger booster so it was lost to the jungle. Damon ordered some rocket stuff for Wyoming which will work well at the church field in town. The best part of the month was beginning our summer in Wyoming. We flew out on June 12th. Then we are staying until July 22 when we fly out to Maryland. Then return back to Guam on August 3rd.
