May 2022

May was a good month.  The boys love to build their cities that seem to get more intricate each one they build.  I love Owen and Milton working together and seeing what they deem the most important aspect of a city.  They always make sure to have a bank and police station.  Owen likes to always have some sort of high density housing and a port. Milton likes to watch Creative Galaxy which also results in him wanting to make crafts.  I got him some paint and a posterboard and he made a painting of some astronauts and their space ship.  One of Milton's favorite things to do on the iPad is to send the grandparents text messages of emojis.  They do have some sort of 'story', but even those are in Miltonese so sometimes difficult to follow. The library (right behind our house) had a firefighter day we went to with Milton's best buddy Chuck who lives across the street.  They are inseparable. The library also had a May the 4th Star Wars day, but Owen was more interested in reading Captian Underpants. Milton liked to listen to the stories though. Mother's Day was very exciting with Owen and Milton's teachers doing some adorable crafts for me.  Owen's teacher had all the parents send in a couple pictures of them with their kiddo and she put together a really sweet video slide show for all the kids in the class.  May 22 was the Yigo temple dedication.  We took the boys to the open house and their favorite part always ends up being the baptismal font.  I got tickets to see the morning dedication in the endowment room and cornerstone setting.  David Bednar did the dedication.  Just the week prior he was at the DC temple seeing to some of the preparations for that open house later in the year. Owen and Milton do so well in their classes.  Milton's class had an Olympics kind of field day that Milton got first place for the obstacle course.  Owen has been going to the garden club everyday after school and comes home so happy.  He rides his bike on his own, so it is fun to have him come blasting in the door once he is out for the day.  Hopefully that teacher will do the garden club again next year. Damon loves his boat dives and goes any Sunday that he isn't on call.  He is definitely getting his money's worth out of his scuba gear.  I finished up my term on May 17th.  This was a tough term with assessment and special education.  I was able to use my expertise with epilepsy and ADHD in my topic presentation. We were able to go see a free screening at the base theater for the new Top Gun movie which the boys really loved.  Seeing military movies surrounded by service members is a neat experience.  Since I was out for the term we got to do some touristing with the Duck Tour, Tao Tao Tasi, and the Valley of the Latte Watermelon festival. Owen has been continuing with his piano lessons but we will take a break for the summer since we will be in Wyoming and then resume in September once school is back.
