NC Transportation Museum and NC Zoo

We did an overnight trip to see the North Carolina Transportation and the North Carolina Zoo. Milton told me that his favorite part was staying at the hotel. It was kinda unpleasant weather, but we still had a fun weekend.  The North Carolina Transportation Museum is for all kinds of transportation, not just trains. The museum is located at the former Southern Railway's 1896-era Spencer Shops and devotes much of its space to the state's railroad history. The museum has the largest collection of rail relics in the Carolinas. Its Back Shop building of nearly three stories high is most notable for its size of 200 yards long.  The historical use of that site was a train station so they had a cool functional turn table and most exciting a little train we went for a ride on.  I forgot to pack Owen's glasses since we left so early on Saturday (to make it for the 1 pm train ride) but he did a great job without them.  Owen and Milton picked out good little toys at the gift shop which was an exercise for them to stay calm.  On Sunday we went to the NC Zoo.  Covid restrictions limited entry, but there were not many people interested in an outdoor in the rain in February! There are two main sections; North America and Africa.  The Africa section was closed for the season which was fine with us since we will be seeing lots of African animals at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  The North Carolina Zoo is located on wooded 2,600 acres with 500 acres developed, it is the world's largest natural habitat zoo and one of two state-supported zoos.
