April 2020

April was our first full month of lockdown.  It has been an interesting time.  Much thanks to Demetria and Trent for finding that all of the James Bond movies were free on Amazon Prime for April.  We were able to make it up to movie #9, The Man with the Golden Gun.  My favorite character in the entire series is hands down Pussy Galore.  I mean, seriously...really...Pussy Galore *insert eye roll here* Owen would jump all over the place being very concerned about James Bond's safety.  Milton started getting sick of them and I have a video of him saying "No James Bond".  Damon loved watching the Bond movies with his family growing up.  Come May 1st we realized that we would now have to rent them and then realized that the movies we had on dvd were all messed up too and wouldn't play all the way through to the end.  We will watch them all eventually, just we now need to rent each one.  The trampoline is being used for sure.  Damon got sleeping bags for him and the boys and they have camped out several nights all night.  Milton usually doesn't last, but Owen and Damon would stay out there.  We had to get a mosquito net to suspend from the trampoline support bars.  Unfortunately we think that the mosquitoes managed to bite poor little Owen's cheeks through the trampoline mesh.  The next camp out we will put down a quilt for them to lay on top of. My main excitement is that I finished the refirb for one of Joyce's quilts.  I totally disassembled it since the batting was totally falling apart.  I was able to meet the quilt store lady at the store so I could get my new backing and binding fabric.  It was fun to get it all fixed up.

Owen is doing well with his school work.  It is a lot to get done, but it keeps us busy.  He has two 15 minute classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  Then an individual lesson with Ms. Mallette on Friday morning.  Owen really misses his friends and having more people to talk to! Each week the kindergarten teachers have a document through google docs that has the phonics, literacy, math, and science lesson plan for the week.  We submit all the work using google classrooms which is pretty slick.  There are also lesson plans for the various specials of art, music, PE, performing arts, STEAM, and media center.  Each week has been a bit different because they are having to tone it down a bit to have a higher likelihood of the kids doing all of the assignments.

Milton loves ketchup and ranch dressing.  There are times I am fairly confident that his entire caloric intake for a meal is only ketchup or ranch dressing. He is a pretty happy little dude who loves to wander around outside.  I'm sure the neighbors are possibly getting sick of hearing me call out for him.  He likes to run around the house in his fire truck boots putting out "fires" or digging in the front flower beds.  Our Tonka fleet is now out on the porch.  Having the boys out there digging all the time helps with keeping down the weeds!
