Madrid Temple

February 8, 2014

Damon and I went on the 6 hour drive up to Madrid to go to the temple Friday night and then returned Saturday.  This is the closest temple to us currently.  One is planned for Lisbon, Portugal and also one is being built in Rome, but those aren't done yet.  Being so far from a temple really makes you appreciate them more, as I have always lived within a 15 minute drive from the DC Temple.  Madrid not only has the full service temple with cafeteria and all (Damon's favorite part), but also a missionary training center, institute building, and a little hotel type thing that we were able to stay at for 35 euros.  It felt more like a college dorm room than a hotel, but for that price and location it was awesome.  My favorite part about this temple was how truly multi-lingual it is.  You can get headsets to listen in whatever language you like, but there are also most of the workers that speak multiple languages.  My next favorite part was that the entire plaza was an intensive green roof over an underground parking garage.  It was raining when we first arrived, so we were very grateful for the covered parking.  I really liked the decorative parking vents too. Last time we made it to the temple was in Idaho Falls over the summer.
